I have to say hofstra university is a penny pinching school. They enjoy pushing things that only gain public attention despite how unimportant they are. Yes it was cool the debates were held here but the cost of security during that time was offset by the lack there of after the debate. They feel as though busting kids for stealing your roomates food or breaking up small on campus parties are more important than making sure the student body is safe. For instance it is a regular activity to hand out fliers which state the numerous crimes that happen on campus. rape, assault, armed robbery, and things of that nature are just processed and forgotten. Bring me back to the lack of safety after the debates. since so much money was spent on overtime during the debates, entrance gates were left unmanned security was cut down and more crime occurred than my entire time at school. Safety is just one of the things they save money on. The food sucks and the on campus store is overpriced. I dont know if 35 dollars for a 24 pack of water (which normally costs 6 dollars max) is worth it to some, but to me its just the tip of the iceberg. When i first arrived at school they posted signs saying "outside venders will take your hofstra meal plan money." 4 years later nothing. NOTHING. Also if you want to eat a sandwich 3 times a day this is a school for you because the food taste like eating cardboard. The education is decent, but the social life sucks more then the food. frat/sor life sucks local bars are shit holes, one campus parties suck. The sports here are just as bad as social life..Only the basketball team is good. overall i got to say get some lithium if you plan on going here…
