Hofstra University

Unfortunately, I was not of the lucky students to have been granted a scholarship so I spent almost $80,000 on this school for two years. It was NOT worth it. Hofstra University is not a school that is interested in the well being of its students, instead, all they want is your money. After being on the dean's list and being inducted into an honor society for my academic acheivement, I thought I would have been rewarded for my hard work after my sohphomore year, instead Hofstra gave me a scholarship worth $1300 (which, mind you, does not even cover the cost of a meal plan). The administration does absolutely nothing to try to help you or your situation. The student body here is very prententious and as an African American student, I clearly did not fit in. I was fortunate enough to meet one person who I truly connected with, everyone else had their heads stuck up their asses. If you are not really into drinking and partying, you probably won't fit in here. The surrounding community is not the best, but I don't have too much to complain about it. If you don't have a car…you better plan on getting one. Weekends at Hofstra are extremely dull because everyone goes home. The food might seem good for the first week, but don't expect anything new after that.

The only good thing I can say about Hofstra is that the professors are good. I had some very good professors but aside from them, the experience was terrible.

All in all, I am extremely dissappointed with my experience at Hofstra which is why I transferred. Do not waste your money on a university that does not care about its students.
