Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
The history department at NC State is very good. Around half of the history professors have Ivy League pHDs and the rest are Ivy League equivalents, ie Berkely, Duke, etc. One commenter said that her classes weren't tough enough, to which I say, she took the wrong classes. Because of NC State's size, there are more extracurricular opportunities than more "prestigious" institutions with much smaller student bodies. To me, the overall experience was superb. I am now going back for a masters degree. I have taken classes at Duke and Oxford and they were no better than the average class I had at State, and below the better courses there. If for some reason you really really want to go a small school, that is the only reason I can think of to not go to NC State; however, for me personaly, the large student body was quite stimulating.
