where would u like me to start? The city is shit, there is nothing to do here and it's basically a slum. Bring a gun freshman and don't leave your DR late at night! The professors are pompous arrogant assholes who care about nothing more than their paycheck. The school as a whole is not very "challenging" as ppl on here say. Most of the classes get a huge curve and u can pass just by sitting in the room, or at least showing up to exams and finals. One person told me "oh go ahead and dual major in math, you won't fail the hard classes they curve the grades so much". Wow, and u still like this school dude? This school is a degree mill. Come here if you are not looking to get much out of a university. The "teachers" are going to give you a book and basically say "don't bother me, you have a book!". Most of the positive reviews on here are from people who are just happy to be at a university, a good percentage of in state students come from community colleges. Do not, do not look at ratings and think that other schools ranked the same are…are just as good as this school. Tulane is ranked about the same but Pitt students will not get accepted at Tulane, and they don't have 60% of thier student body coming from a community college. In closing i'll say this, The University of Pittsburhg is a step up from a community college but it is not much more. IT IS A CRAPPY SCHOOL. THE END.

I go to Pitt and I absolutely love it here. Sweetie, I WAS at a different university before I came here, and I did not like it. I don't like it just because it's a university. That is frankly the dumbest thing I've heard all day.

If you don't like Pitt, that's your problem, but a lot of the statements you are making are overblown and simply not true.

If you want to be an idiot and do minimal work, then you'll get a degree that means nothing. If you want to learn something and get a great education, you CAN get that here. It's all about working hard and doing things you love. Pitt provides tons of resources that most students that whine about everything ignore or don't even know about. Like any school, Pitt isn't perfect and has its issues, but as a freshman there is no way you would know ALL the professors here to make such a blanket statement about them. There are top-notch professors here and bad professors here, just like at ANY school.

It is probably not "challenging" to you because you just started and are taking Gen Eds. When you get into upper-level courses in your major trust me, they're rough.

If you think Pittsburgh/Oakland is a slum, you need to get out more into the real world.

Definitely not a step above a CC. that just makes your entire post sound like an immature tirade. and tulane has basically nothing on pitt. pitt is renowned in medicine, philosophy, mathematics, and the health sciences. and tulane…? oh it's in new orleans… oh nice. grow up.

I'm a freshman at Pitt and I haven't met a single person who came from a community college. Also, I'm a Pitt student who got into Tulane so there goes your logic!

Yeah, Oakland and Pittsburgh are nt slums. Go over to Camden. They made quotes in movies about that place.Go in the afternoon. :)
