Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
UConn is by no means a bad university. The academic plan is very good as I see it. The Engineering Department is very helpful, and some of my friends are doing top majors like Pharmacy and Business, and they are all satisfied as well as challenged. Most people like their professors, especially the freshmen since the general education level professors really are easy and nice. However once you get to your professional years don't expect the same. The staff and TAs are still nice though.

Dorm life is not that great, but this is the only university i've been to so I don't know what else to expect. Dining hall food is great at Towers and South, hence the only meaningful places to live are Towers and South (as I see it).

However, I don't know why but most non-freshmen here are not so approachable. They seem to have already made their social circles and cliques, and for some reason they don't want anyone else to deal with. This really irritates me, because when I have no friend around me I rather talk to a stranger rather than sit around. Most people that don't have friends around them (like on a bus) you'll see them texting or listening to music on their iPods. I really think this stuff is killing face-to-face sociability as a whole. As a whole, I highly dislike the social life here. Just not enough open-minded people.

Most people at this campus are party-freaks. They will talk about partying throughout classes and wait the entire week just for the weekends to party hard. That's great, but I feel like most people think of nothing else to do here. In fact you'll find that a few people only have that one thing to do, and their christmas is actually spring weekend, which is basically a giant series of parties coming shortly before finals in the spring semester. A couple people get arrested, most people get drunk and dance in circles surrounded by hoards of other people (many come from out of campus). What fun.

So I mostly tend to avoid parties, because my idea of fun isn't to go into overcrowded houses, get wasted, sleep next to a toilet and then brag about it the next evening (because you sleep the whole day and skip classes). But then, good luck finding people who want to do anything else during weekends.

On the plus side, there's a lot of clubs here, and frats too. You're bound to meet a couple people there, so try out something you like to do.

There's very little to do out of campus. In fact if you ask me i'll say there's nothing to do, but some would point out "but PHIL?! What about the mall???" Well, there is one, about half an hour away from campus (if you speed you might get there in 20 mins). Besides that, this is cowland. Some genius decided it'd be a blast to put an institution in the middle of nowhere.
