Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time)
I entered UNCC in 1974, graduated with BA in 1979, re-entered in 1981 to grad school and graduated with MA in 1984, pretty much worked and went to school the entire time. Lived in high rise dorms first two years (Dorm 72 as it was called then, coed, every other floor, Holshouser as it is called today) and off campus thereafter. School then had great, I mean great basketball, but no other sports of note and very little on-campus stuff other than Spring Fling which was a blast. You made your own fun, had parties, crashed frat parties (I wasn't greek) etc. Greek life was pretty huge back then but I just couldn't do it, seemed a huge cop out and kind of creepy, like having a male only dance in the showers or something. The whole, this-place-sucks routine was true somewhat then with UNCC as Thurs night was party night and the w/e's were very, very, very quiet and dead on campus. I honestly think football will change that some, but based on what's out that way now versus the late 70's and early 80's you current complainers are pretty much big babies from my perch. All we had was a few dives and BI-LO for the 14 oz Old Milwaukee beer. Academically, I knew the field I wanted entering as a freshman, was lucky enough to find gainful employment after getting my Master's (unsuccessful with BA) and have been continuously employed ever since. Advice: Find your niche early and work hard. Get as much education as you can stand and would advise to get MA. Everything else should fall into place. Good luck and go Niners.
