I still regret going to UCONN. I transferred from an out of state school that I loved because at the time my Dad was paying and lost his job. At the other state school I was at the top 5% of my class and had a high GPA. At UConn I found it difficult to get any help from the professors. I experienced blatant unfairness from my professor Dr. Dickerson who when I questioned him about the C I received on my first paper told me "I really don't see you getting anything higher than that on anything you turn in this semester". He must be precognitive. I never received anything other than a C that semester. When I told the department head he laughed in my face. In other classes athletic stars rarely made it to class and yet managed to receve all A's. Almost 20 years later and just thinking about it fills me with so much rage. One day I went to the on campus restaurant and overheard one of my psych professors making derogatory remarks about women. I was upset because I really liked the topic but felt it would be in my best interest to drop the class. I muddled through my classes all while feeling like a second class citizen. I didn't even try to get into grad school. My dream of becoming a psychologist was down the drain. I've been struggling trying to make it in life since. Not a whole lot of opportunities for someone with a BA in psych unfortunately. I receved a call from them the other day begging for money. I laughed in their face. I wonder how many other people were treated as unfairly and are as angry as I was? I hope they have good security on campus.
