To the first year who wrote the pretty uneducated review…

the most honest crit you are going to find out there

1- it is a fine art school.. not AI… if you wanted a job there are places that can find you that. I'm not saying the school doesnt do this but it is not its main priority. You can participate in Co-Op and intern in tons of fantastic places… like the Art Institute (museum). I did this and it was and amazing experience. I still have this connection and work when they have special programs going on.

2- almost every undergraduate program REQUIRES you stay for a summer or winter term. From state school to private to art schools.

3- how old are you.. obviously there is not much of a night life at the loop but have you been anywhere else. Chicago (outside the loop) has a variety of bars and hangouts and music venues. Most require you to be 21+.

4- as for muggings/stabbing.. been here for 2 years and I feel safe. It's a city and you always have to be cautious and not draw attention to yourself. Overall it's fine.

5- guys v girl ratio… yes its true guys at saic are few and far between.. because most are taken but you must be really self loathing to blame your lack of guys on the school. I have met plenty of saic guys and non-saic guys.. again this might be fixed if go to bars and meet new people. (p.s. the ride up to northwestern is not "sketchy sketchy" its EVANSTON… super nice even ritsy)

6- the urban outfitters thing and the being "too cool" I think is only true for first years. You can definitely find a group of super interesting people that dont have sticks up their asses. Again this is up to you. Dont expect things to be handed to you.
