1) How the school looks

When I saw UNT, i thought the campus was beautiful! It looked like a modern university. What I mean by that, is that it the buildings don't look exactly the same to each other, it gives the campus some more personality. It's maintained really well, and there's a lot of trees everywhere! Whenever a light wind would blow during the fall, the colored leaves would fall gently to the ground. It is a totally awesome sight!

2)The Proffessors

I'm used to working hard and being really anal retentive about getting A's. I'm a transfer student, and I honestly think that I've never worked this hard academically in my life, and I still didn't get all A's. I would usually be disturbed by this, but I realized that what you learn is more important than the grade you get.

All of my professors were a challenge, nonetheless, they were really helpful and went out of their way to remind students that they can come in during office hours, email, or call them if they had any questions. Many would stay after class as well. I guess to match the laid-back atmosphere, many of the professors would like to joke around and mess with their students as well. For example, it was raining really bad one day, and when students began to walk in, my professor decided to play the song

Raindrops keep falling on my head.
So if you really need the help, the professors will help you, you just need to seek them out first.

3) Dorm life

I lived at College Inn, there really isn't any sense of unity there. My main thing is that I wished that the RA's would get some of the international students to shut up more.

On a positive, they did bring out Pinatas for us to Smash to blow off some steam

I went to hang out at Legends Hall quite frequently, and I really enjoyed that. People in that dorm will approach and wont be awkward when they are approached. They had a lot of things that residents could rent and play with(Wii, rock band, guitar hero, pool sticks, cooking stuff, etc) They had a lot of events for the residence to come participate in. There was also a thanksgiving potluck! Like I said, I was at Legends a lot.

4)Social Responsibility

The school is really big on helping out the Denton Community, and the world as a whole. The school is about 40%(as of Fall 2010) powered by alternative methods. The elliptical machines in the rec center produce energy that goes into a generator that helps power up the gym and or other places at school. There are solar panels at various places, and the new football stadium has wind turbines. All the cups and napkins are made from recycled materials and they have recycling containers everywhere

They are also really big on community service at UNT, even if you're not part of the greek system (like me) and have clubs and organizations to just community service. For example, on National Make a Difference Day, there were hundreds of students at the Student Union on a Saturday Morning to help people out.

The President of the School even sent out an email to the students and faculty to wear purple in honor of those who committed suicide because of scorn due to their sexual affiliation.

There's a lot of movies and events going raising awareness and many students are showing an interest and helping out. A lot of students signed up to be bone marrow donors, thousands of dollars raised for different charities, etc.

5) Social Life

I'm a straight-edge prude, so I'm not the best to ask about parties and such.

I will tell you though, there are a lot of exhibitions of art, plays, and performances on campus that are really amazing. To be perfectly honest, i only went to the football games because i think the drum line is AMAZING. Also the indie music scene in Denton is awesome! It isn't very expensive either. BTW Denton is about smack dab in the middle of Dallas at Ft.Worth, you can always go there if you need something to do.

6) Financial Aid and whatnot

A lot of people usually complain or have a terrible story, not me!

My family has a high EFC, but my parents aren't paying for anything, so I needed to get the two loans my first university gave me. Many of the people in the Financial aid department would just say things to get you out of their hair, but there were two people(who i can't remember) who really stuck out their necks and went the extra mile for me. I remember this one woman told me that my efc was too high and didn't even need that loan and it was on a need basis(which it wasn't). I was persistent though, and another woman believed me and eventually she called me(after office hours) to tell me that i got the loan!

A plus(which my old school didn't have), if the line is busy, you can have your place saved for you, and they will call you back. wonderful!

7) Friends

I made incredibly wonderful friends at UNT, i was really worried that I wasn't because the school is so populated!

My advice, join a student org! there are over 300 around, and no matter what you're into, you will find people that you can get along with and help make your college journey amazing.

8) School Events

Okay, i'm getting tired so i'm just gonna breeze through the rest.

During 'reading day' there is this thing called Eagle Insomnia. GO TO IT! It's a huge even at the Union where they keep serving a lot of breakfast type with activities going on everywhere. Last semester, they had a hypnotist, laser tag, bumper cars, movie showing, oxygen bar, massages free stuff, pictures with santa, and probably some other stuff that I didn't get a chance to do!

They have many events to make you feel like you're part of the university. There was sophomore week(and any other based on classification) international student, non-traditional student, veteran students, etc. It's a lot.

Also, there are mixers and career fairs that apply to your college as well. Take advantage of them! If not anything, score some free food!

I'm not into football, but the pep rally's at Clark Park were entertaining, like i said before, indie music scene is awesome, and you're gonna get various performers. Can I also mention, free food! Tailgating is a big thing for the community too, I'm not a huge fan because I don't like the smell of beer, but the homecoming peprally is 10X better and a lot more fun.

I am so glad I chose UNT, and I wish they could just Market the school better (sounds like a good assignment for the Marketing students right?)

questionI am planning to transfer back for Fall 2011 to major in Journaliam(advertising) as well and I wanted to know what were the courses like in the subject. Also, how difficult was the GSP Test? Thanks!
questionIt is one of the largest public research universities to explore and reviews of the students of the different campuses. Their educational rating is so high then other dissertation writing service because of their graduating programs.
commentI really like the concept of having wind turbines and solar panels. It's very eco-friendly. I also want to install solar panels at home.
commentYou can afford to buy solar panels, there's nothing complicated about that. You should look for more information on the Internet. Maybe you can find more on the site where I bought myself a solar power kit. I very much hope that this type of alternative energy will gain mass demand. That would be cool.
