Georgia State is not for the weak of heart. If you see comments on StudentsReview complaining about homeless people, those people clearly should have gone somewhere else. This is a city school. If you don't like Atlanta, this is not the school for you. Homelessness is a reality and facing it every day will make you appreciate what you have and it will make you want to do something for someone other than yourself. Grow up, people.I attended this school for Undergrad and Graduate degrees and I have nothing but good things to say. There are plenty of people who like to think that GSU is "less" of a school than UGA but this simply isn't true. There are so much more real-life experiences that you will be exposed to at Georgia State that UGA just can't touch. However, it takes a certain person. I did not go to college to do keg stands. I did not go to college to join a sorority or hang out at smelly bars out in the sticks. I preferred the abundance of grown-up bars and clubs that Atlanta has to offer. I was drinking martinis and living in a highrise and I was surrounded by people of all ages (not just college students). I was able to hold great part time jobs because I wasn't competing with a million college students in a small town (a.k.a I didn't have to wait tables at a smelly dark bar)! I had immediate access to great shopping, concerts, jobs, a nightlife and wasn't consumed with football, cafeteria food or small dorms! If you just want to fit in, conform and feel cool, go to UGA. Georgia State is just as good of a school, it's just not as sought after because everyone wants to go to the more well-known school. You won't see Sperrys, khakis, monogrammed jewelry or sorostitutes at this school. The alumni of Georgia State is more sophisticated and interested in real life - not trapped in their college years! The greatest part, is now GSU has a football team! Even if you don't care about football, you can argue that our first season wins beat UGA and we play at the Dome where you can drink! I wouldn't change a thing.
