First, let me start of by describing myself. I'm black with a very dark complexion about 5'9 170 lbs. I'm the quiet guy who sits in the back of the class and does his work only commenting every now and then in classes where commenting is necessary. I'm from Memphis and grew up going to mostly black schools. I'm very quiet and keep to myself mostly with very few friends. Not a people person

Classes

I'm the student who attends class everyday and takes every note about everything the teacher says. I share my notes with anyone who asks. The staff here seems like they've been there too long and have grown accustomed to certain student behaviors. So they teach class accordingly. They know when the students arent listening. They know when students arent going to come to class.They are very aware of patterns that students have shown over the years and teach accordingly. The teachers are very attainable and easy to get in contact with through mtsu email even if you're in class with up to 100 students. Being a communications major this happens to me often. Other than that class to me was just like high school just with slightly harder assignments.

Campus Safety

I'm a black male so this is my point of view. Safety for me was just fine ofcourse..lol. From reading these biased white comments I'd say I was public enemy number one on MTSU campus… You may say that the campus isnt safe at night but I was that wierdo you probably saw walking around campus late one night who didnt mean any harm.I was simply on the phone with my girlfriend and not wanting to disturb my sleeping roomate I went outside. The campus does frequently remind us of crime on campus so I try to stay in on nights like those for fear of being accused of raping and/or robbing someone.

Students

The students here are VERY friendly! Everyone was so nice to me and being from Memphis I was not use to this. I also wasnt used to ALL of the white people. Everyone is saying there are so many black people here simply for the fact that they travel in large groups. Whereas the white people travel in small packs. Most of you probably fail to realize that, for every one black person there is probably about twenty white people. Ofcourse there are some black assholes who are abnormally loud and ghetto which i try my best to avoid. But for the most part, most of my problems came from white redneck-guitar playing-frisbee throwing-hipster assholes on my dorm floor who chose to be fucking loud as fuck at random hours of the night making me want to become that stereotypical black and go outside of my dorm and say

hey can yaw shut the fuck up..a nigga trying to sleep

simply to intimidate them. But I never did for fear of them judging and putting me into the labelbox with the other memphis blacks.

Dorm life

I liked my dorm and my roomate. But I have not nor have I ever been a "people person" so I could see random times where he'd look at me strange for doing something weird. Or wearing something weird. I am very weird. I smoke weed and get drunk from time to time, as did he, so we had to deal with eachothers vomit one night after we got CRAZY wasted! That sort of brought us closer. i've never looked to buy weed on campus I have my own supply which i bring from memphis. This semester i chose to pay a little extra to live in a single dorm, so we'll see how this works out. It's in monohan which i heard was an awesoome complex.

Overall

MTSU is a great school with awesome people in general. If you simply try to stay away from trouble and troublesome people you will enjoy your campus stay as much as the next fat person. Do your work and you'll pass. Fuck off and you'll fail. its as simple as that.
