Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a freshman this year, and it's only been a month I've been here.

Some background info: I am from Westchester, New York. Born and raised. I work in the city every summer, so I am used to a city/suburban setting. I love NY and plan to live there in my later years.

When I applied to colleges, I didn't know what I wanted. I like telecom. and wanted to go to a small artsy fartsy school on the east coast, I didn't get in. IU was on my list for some reason, and I got in, and I thought why the hell not?!

BAD CHOICE.

I feel so alone here. Here's the rundown.

DORMS: I thought I wanted to be in Northwest (party dorms) glad I didn't. The people there are drunk 24/7 and very unintelligent. If you want to be surrounded by all you best friends from carmel/whatever town from Indiana and drink all day and night, this is the place for you.

Central: where I live, is nice. The location isn't that bad, however, I'm still surrounded with some weird people. I do go out and party, so living here doesn't make it impossible, just a long walk.

Southeast: I don't know too much about this place besides this is where all the music kids are. It's pretty low key.

ACADEMICS: I feel like I am a number here. most of my professors have a thick accent and I can't understand them, and I feel like they aren't very interested in making sure you understand the content. They are there because they are getting paid and it's their job. I feel like they don't care about me.

SOCIAL LIFE: If you are a hardcore partier, please come to IU. I have never seen parties like this. too bad I am not a partier. For some reason the drink of choice is Grape Vodka, two of my least favorite things. Frat boys are greasy. It's not hard to find a party, however I've found it hard to find something to do that doesn't involve getting wasted.

PEOPLE: You will meet everybody that's ever lived in Indiana. You will meet hicks. You will meet the most unintelligent people ever. The frat boys are drunken douches with sperrys and the regular boys are just drunken douches. I have seriously never seen so many tools in my life. The sorority girls wear 10 inch heels everywhere with the shortest dresses, and take pictures of themselves taking shots. I have yet to see a community oriented fundraiser they have yet to put together. Other girls are blonde and dress like the goal is to show as mush skin possible. Where is the originality?!

In a nutshell: I'm tan and have brunette hair, by that already I feel like an outsider. I need a small school that treats me like a person and not a number. I hate to say this, but I have way more class than these people, and I simply do not feel like I fit in here. I want to be back in my city, I want to be surrounded by interesting, original, and intelligent people again. I guess I'm just an east coast girl, and always will be. Middle America is not for me.

I will most likely be transferring either in the spring, or by next year.

commentI think you are simply a negative person who made the wrong choice in where to go. You knew you wanted a small school yet you chose a Big Ten school. Also, this is one month in. Things will change so your message is very useless. You simply make me not like you, not the school. Lastly, your comment about having more class than them is unnecessary and rude. Maybe you feel left out because no one wants to be around a negative person?
I thought this review was helpful! Sorry person who commented before me, but this reviewer is just trying to prevent someone from making her same mistake. This seems like a pretty accurate description of the school and I am really glad she wrote it. Though I do hope it got better or you were able to transfer.
responseI agree with a lot of what you're saying in terms of what you were perceiving as the problems with partying and social exclusion. You're absolutely right about many things in this regard. However, as an Indiana native, who happens to be pretty familiar with "Middle America" as you put it, I find your comments condescending and rude, and it's people like you who make IU all the more negative. Most people (not withstanding a big chunk of the IU population and a few trolls on sites like this) from this region aren't acting or talking like they're "above" people from your region, I can only hope you'd show us the same respect. If you read most of the other negative reviews (one of which is mine) you'd find that a lot of Indiana and Midwestern natives are not happy at IU either, so you can't generalize this whole region with a simple description. By insulting us you're adding to the problem instead of solving it.
commentNot all but most of the universities information we shared. I want to show you everything which is basic and with these simple steps we can make top essay writing services reviews ideas too quick and it is really perfect to get all information from only one place.
