I'd have taken the academic side of things more seriously but in the late 60's-early 70's it was difficult to be apolitical. The U of R provided me with fond memories of socialization but far fewer memories of academic achievement. I strongly recommend college students continue to experience their first exposure to the world away from the nest in a pro-active way. Enjoy those years but make certain you take the academics seriously. At this time, academic achievement is probably more important than it was then. Life seems so much more competitive these days…
