SCAD is a bad institution riding on a good name. It presents a pretty picture on first glance, but it is outrageous. They have no REAL financial aid to offer anyone other than monsterous loans. Their financial aid office has a "non commitment policy, which means they can only tell you what options for loans are out there, but they will not give you any advice on which ones are better or even help you compare them. The academic advising office doesn't know it's rear-end from a hole in the ground and gives out irrelevant advice.

and if you get sick, you might as well go wait in the emergency room. They have ONE NURSE PRACTICTIONER TO SEE EVERYONE. Seriously, one nurse to see EVERYONE, students, faculty, staff. So, if you don't get to the walk in hours by like, 9:30, they turn you away. Its really an inappropriate set up for a school with this many people.

I continue to vent about my current situation… which i just wanted to put out there, continue to read if you like, but if not, know that SCAD is an uncompromising institution which does not care about it's students, only their tuition money.

As a student at SCAD, I've run into a rather puzzeling, but not uncommon problem with what you would think is an easy fix. I need a particular class to graduate, but it is not being offered in the quarter I need to take it in to graduate. The school's policy in such a situation is to have the student complete an independent study. Seems like an easy solution, right? WRONG. The department chair refused to grant me an independent study saying that it would, "damage the sanctity or the program." The big problem here is without being able to take this class in the quarter I need it to graduate, I CANT GRADUATE!!! Here's why: I will then have to attend school taking one course per quarter, which means I can't take out student loans to pay for that one class, or for living in savannah. Which means, I can't go to school. I also will lose my health insurance, so if something happens—I'm totally screwed. I've been all the way up the ladder of command with this, and even at the president's office all I have heard from them is, "Opps, Sorry about that! Guess you'll have to find another way to pay for it!!"
