Positive Negative Neutral Advice
“Alright, so I read all of these reviewsSuper BrilliantHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
Alright, so I read all of these reviews before choosing to go to this university. And, I thought, "those negative reviews have to be exaggerating." Big mistake.

The campus is beautiful. Most of the buildings are new. It's centered around an amazing hotel that was built in the 1800s and now serves as the main building. While the first floor of Plant Hall looks like a royal palace, the top three floors look like a high school that hasn't been renovated since the 40s. It's disgusting and immensely disappointing.

The faculty were all friendly, in my experience. And they all have doctorates in their field. But I didn't have a single good *teacher*. I went to a community college for a year before going to this school (for another year), and I can honestly say that every single prof at the community college was better than any UT prof I had.

The students are mostly northeastern kids who want to go to college in Florida. In the beginning of the year, everyone's immensely friendly, but within a few months they split off into their "cliques" and show their true colors of arrogance and closedmindedness. The resulting drama literally rivals Jersey Shore. It's disgusting. The student body's entertainment primarily consists of dressing like douchebags, spraying a ridiculous amount of cologne, smoking weed and unbridled drinking.

In a nutshell, it's a wannabe party school. I say "wannabe" because it's located in Tampa. There's a few clubs that might be enticing early on but after awhile you realize that there's absolutely nothing to do in this friggin town. Downtown Tampa is virtually juts a business district and that's all. There's no nightlife (or any "life") whatsoever, save for maybe two or three hotspots that get real old real fast. Seriously, Tampa kind of sucks.

The on-campus entertainment is nonexistent. The first two weeks are full of student activities. Then they just... stop. There's literally nothing to do on campus either! So if you're not into clubbing or drinking heavily for no reason whatsoever, you should expect to spend your time watching TV, playing video games, or browsing the internet.Overall, a terrible experience. I left after a year. I won't tell you to stay away, but I seriously encourage anyone who's thinking about coming here and reading the negative reviews not to discount them. It's a mistake I made and regret. You may be thinking that they exaggerate, but they don't. It's way too much money to go to this university for a bad experience.

Question
“FGCU is a very good school.AverageUndecided
FGCU is a very good school. The professor's are amazing and from all different backgrounds and are flexible on make up work. They have dedicated times to help you so there is no reason you should be failing. I've had one professor whose accent made him hard to understand and he wasn't a very good teacher, but he was such a nice guy and so accommodating (my grandma died and he let me make up a test I missed when while I was mourning. He looked at my grades and saw I missed a couple of homeworks and let me make those up too. I didn't even ask!) The staff is friendly and very helpful also. One thing I hated was the cliquey nature of the school. Everybody here is what I define as a "bro". It's really annoying. I'm not racist, but the school is 70 percent white and all of them try to act black (I know you can't act black but try to imagine what I mean) and say the "n" words all the time which isn't really cool. I'm black and kind of pisses me off, but I get over it. I'm not really used to that kind of behavior since my HS was almost completely African American It's really hard to make friends if you don't fit into that "bro", "hollister","urban outfitters" stereotype. Personally I'm a hardcore music guy who likes going to concerts and really into the scene in general. I thought considering that hardcore music is overall just Caucasians I thought I could meet some friends pretty quickly that had similar interest. WRONG! Everyone here is only concerned with fucking, smoking weed, wearing flip flops and drinking. I don't condone that because hey we're in college, but gets annoying when you have a bunch retards running down the halls at 3am while you're cramming for an exam.

There aren't very many majors at this school but if they have yours I highly recommend the school. However if you don't already have friends here and don't fit the "bro"/"tanning bed faggot" stereotype, don't expect to make friends.I'm going to FIU next year. Considering it's Miami I expect to see a huge music scene.

Question
“I'm speaking strictly in part of the nursingBrightNursing
I'm speaking strictly in part of the nursing department. Advising for nursing students is extremely helpful. I changed my declared major and the transition was extremely easy.

As for classes, so far from what I've experienced, the science based classes are challenging and worth it in the end because you will get something out of it. However, certain humanities classes are really a waste of time. It just depends on the professor you get.

There is NO crime on campus. Campus police does like to give tickets though.
The campus is incredibly clean and it is a "Green" school. So that's cool. They try to do a lot of environmentally friendly things. It is a commuter school. I belive only 14% of the school dorms. And of course the surrounding area isn't Orlando/Miami/Tampa. It's pretty quiet. There are nightclubs though. You can find entertainment if you look for it. And there are plenty of clubs you can join. The students from what I have experienced so far are extremely friendly. You just have to at least say "hi" and start up a conversation. All in all, it's a good school. The professors for the most part are cool. The quality of education can depend on the major you're pursuing.
