Quite Bright
I did my BS in chemistry from CalstateLA. The school is in a sad state coz of it being a public school. Every bit of the inflation is passed on to the student in the fees imposed upon them. Because the govt provides the school with more money if there are more student, anyone and everyone is granted admission. So, you wont meet many bright bulbs in your class. If you want to be intellectually challenged in your undergraduate years, it aint happening at this school.

After I graduated I observed that the name of the school does not have much ground and will not give you the lift or respect you deserve and expect after going through 4 years of hardwork.
Most of the students there are coming from home and hold jobs, so you would not make friends easily since all of them have their own busy lives to go back to. I made a few friends from my department as I interacted with them often as they were in most of my classes.
If you dont care about the reputation, educational level etc etc. of the college and just want to get degree, Calstatela would be your choice then.

Not so bright
I have had a difficult time with class registration, admissions procedures (sent transcript 4 times), attitudes from telephone staff from the GET helpline, and course requirement forms that were not current. Poor availability of information pertaining to graduation requirements. However, there are an equal (or more) number of people (faculty, administration, and staff) that are really wonderful and who do want to help... but by that time I already lost time and sanity. Some of the school's policies are unfair, and there were occasions in which I felt like a "victim" who had no means of defending my rights. I want to like this school, but it is difficult. I am not challenged in the courses, and I would like more intellectual stimulation. However, most of my peers and classmates possess a different intellectual capacity than myself. I have experienced a reduction in brain activity since my enrollment. If I was wealthy I would not be here. I previously dropped out of a prestigious university years ago, and I regret throwing away that opportunity at a quality education. I feel that the education offered at this school does not equip me with the ammunition and knowledge to stay competitive on my career path. One definitely needs to supplement his/ her education rec'd at CSULA with additional material. If there are other choices, go elsewhere. Sorry.

College degree a requirement to a permanent teaching position plus a teaching credential that was obtained at the college. Talk about professors: at LACC my speech teacher was named Gooder, My CSLA education professor was named Better, while my education graduate professor was named Best. So what can I say about my college education!!
P.S. I am retired after 39 years at one high school and enjoy traveling and compiling WWII information dealiing with my WWII evacuation and internment.
