Overall, I like it here. Not so bright
Overall, I like it here. The people are friendly and most of my professors have been great. Also the campus is beautiful. The school has its problems, but what school doesn't. I wish freshman housing was a little better for everyone, but at least try are finally building new dorms

Question
The University of Delaware is a great school.Bright
The University of Delaware is a great school. In my department faculty are incredibly friendly and helpful. I am a Communications major and every teacher I have had in this department has gone out of there way to help me. Classes that I have taken outside of my major may have not interested me, but I have nothing really negative about the teachers who taught them

The campus itself is beautiful and continuing to improve. The school has recently started a great deal of construction, which on one hand can be annoying, but it is definitely worth it in the long run.

Students at this school are definitely friendly. I will say that the campus body is relatively homogenous, but you can still meet people of varying backgrounds. Many of the students at this school take pride in how they look which I think sometimes gets misconstrued as arrogant. While there are arrogant people here, the majority of students are friendly and welcoming. Most of the students here love it with an extremely small minority being unhappy (however you can find that at any school)

Parties here are pretty open to everyone. Newark is a charming town, but is small. There are bars in the town which is fun for upperclassmen, but difficult to get into for underclassmen. However, there are always parties to go to thursday through friday. These parties are easy for anyone to get as long as the follow the "college" protocol- $3 for guys and girls get in free. If you don't like partying I'll admit there is less for you to do, but theres still plenty of options. The school offers a variety of things to do on the weekends including coffee houses, movie screenings and guest performers including famous comedians

The University offers an activity for everyone. Overall, there is a club for everyone on campus and you can always start your own club if you cannot find anything interesting. Also, as a member of greek life I can say that a fraternity/sorority is definitely something that adds to the school. For students who are shy I would totally recommend joining a fraternity/sorority in order to help break them out of there shells and find people that will truly be life-long companions

As for dorms its pretty split. Freshman dorms aren't great, with the exception of George Reed and Russell. While Rodney and Dickinson may not be the best in terms of quality they are great for socializing and making friends. However, the University knows these dorms aren't great show they are building two new dorms on East Campus that are going to be stunningOverall Experience- I respect all the opinions on this page, however I do not necessarily agree with all of them. As someone who truly values education I know how lucky I am to even be going to college. Udel isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it has provided me with a good education and in many ways has become my home away from home. Recently, the school has received a new President and in my opinion he has instituted new policies that not only watch out for students safety, but also improve the school overall. Through President Harker all these new buildings are being constructed and the school administrated an amnesty program. This amnesty program allows for a student to call 911 if someone is drunk due to alcohol poison and neither the person calling nor the person intoxicated will get in trouble. The school may be cracking down on their drinking policies, which as a person who like to party (and study) I can say I am not a huge fan. However, I can see that the policies the University is installing are done if ways that provide students with safety and aren't just installed in order to ruin a student's social life

Question
I went to Udel for the first semesterQuite Bright
I went to Udel for the first semester then transferred. There is zero school spirit. Partying is the number one priority. Classes were not challenging. What administration says in orientation about Udel not being a party school anymore is Bull and they support the partying 100 percent. Not a very safe school either, there were many muggings and drug raids when I was here. Partying at tailgates is out of control. Students are puking in the stands or comatose after tailgatin. Really way beyond the norm at any other school.
