Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Sure, PCC is a strict Christian college, butBusiness - Management and Administration
Sure, PCC is a strict Christian college, but I have a hard time believing that most alumni didn't already know that going into it. Don't most people research a school before sending in an application? It is YOUR choice which college you go to. If you choose to go to PCC, then expect to live by their rules - that's no secret! If you plan to break the rules and not care, then you may as well save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. I recommend that you prayerfully consider whether this is the school for you - do your research and if possible, go to visit the campus to view it for yourself. Stay during college days to get a little taste of campus life. Most of the students at PCC are very friendly, so for those reading negative posts, please don't think that everyone that experiences PCC is immature, bitter, and loves bashing the school; or on the opposite spectrum who are "holier than thou",snotty, etc. There are those of us who went there, got our education and a lot more, and are doing fine in the world today. Now, about the education I received from PCC, I was a legal office administration major - 2 yr. AS degree. If you would like to be an admin. asst. in a legal office, or possibly advance to a paralegal position, this is a good major for you. Also, if you want any general admin. asst. positions, this will get you there. I worked for a high-tech corporation out of college and advanced in the company, supporting 3 directors and 100 employees under them. To me, the training in computer software could have been more advanced - I learned a lot of the Office products on my own, which is typical for the changing technology, but I learned enough in general from the college to keep up with today's office software. Also, the courses have probably changed since I was there 7 years ago! I learned shorthand (speedwriting) from my classes at PCC, which I have used leisurely, but most companies nowadays have their admins just bring a laptop computer into a meeting to take minutes. I don't think I ever used dictation on the job, but it's good to know how to do it just in case.

Question
PCC is not for everyone, but I amReligion/Religious
PCC is not for everyone, but I am tired of people who attend for four years and then do nothing but bash the school. There are rules. there are rules everywhere if you have trouble following them there what makes you think that you would do better in "the real world"? Are the people in charge at the college perfect? No. Are we perfect? No. But I will tell you this, the genuinelly care for their student body and do only what they think is best for it. If you go there with the understanding that there will be things there that you do not agree with, but must follow because God called you there and they have "the rule" over you then you will have a much better college experience. Much of what you get out of a place has to do with what you put in to a place. If you get a negative experience maybe you went in expecting to get one.

Question
I spent most of my four years facingAverageCommunications
I spent most of my four years facing my computer screen and trying to come up with A+ papers (still working on that one), so I missed out on most of the rules issues that people mention when they talk about PCC. I struggled more with things like being herded into church. With having friends and faculty drop out of sight, and no word about why or where they went. With the almost unhealthy competition with other Christian universities (why can't we all just get along?). With calling a multi-million-dollar business (A Beka book) a ministry even though the pricetag was much higher than many middle-class families could afford.

But I appreciated many things about my experience, too. I made some great friends (I know, everyone says that.) I came to love my teachers as they came to (I hope) love me. I heard some incredible chapel messages that really challenged me spiritually. If you're looking for a place to grow spiritually, and you're willing to stand up by yourself sometimes (not be a cookie-cutter Christian), then consider PCC. If rules bother you, if you want to party through your college years, if you're not interested in hearing about the KJV Bible every year of your college career, don't go to PCC. That'll be one less bitter student.
