Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I am not so sure why there areBrightBiology
I am not so sure why there are so many negative comments. Sure, there are a lot of kids from LI here, and there are a lot of bad aspects about this school, but, Binghamton is really what you make of it. I am almost finnished with my first year here, and I am having a great time. I live in College in the Woods, and I've met some awesome people. There are always really great parties on the weekends (yes, there is other stuff to do, despite what others have written) You have to approach the school with an open mind, if you approach it close minded, you will hate it. Academically, I love my department. I've gotten to know all the bio profs really well through working with the Nature Preserve group (we have the largest on campus nature preserve in the country, over 900 acres with the new land just purchased) and they treat me really well. All in all, I came here, beleiving stereotypes, but you know, if you just put aside everything, and open up, its a great place. And I am glad I didn't end up going to the other schools I was accepted to.

Question
Bing is fine.Super BrilliantMusic - Composition/Theory
Bing is fine. It has a huge inferiority complex because it was many people's safety school, and because campus is isolated and boring, weather is drowsy at best, and inferiority complexes are catching. It builds from year to year. I can't wait to get out of here, although I've been treated remarkably well while here. Music profs are GREAT I can't say enough about my department -- i LOVE it. Living in Newing was fine because I was in Special Interest Housing for music, which rocked... but other than that Newing is a scary place. Not a great welcome for a freshman. You've definitely got to look for the right kind of people, because there is a huge variety of people in terms of ethnicity, interests, abilities and personalities -- and they tend to segregate so you can live quite comfortably (or miserably) in your own little world if you don't reach out.My problem with Bing is that it's too casual for me. I want really really intense academia and have not found it consistently here, outside of my major. Also I want intense classmates and friends, which are hard to find. I'm not sorry I made a decision to go here but I've learned a lot about what I need in the world from my experience here.

This is a great school. There's a lot to do here. So far I'm having a really good time. I wish there were more gay people.
