When I first came to George Mason, IQuite Bright
When I first came to George Mason, I was so excited because I thought that since it was so close to Washington DC that the students on campus would be very active and aware. Unfortunately I found out that nobody cares or does anything unless they are in Greek life. Greek life is not for me, so I tried to get involved in clubs around campus and found the same five faces everywhere i went. I was very disappointed. It is true that Mason is a commuter school and it is obvious by the lack of activities on campus. The try with their "Every Freakin Friday" activities but they are usually really lame and nobody goes. The classes at Mason are barely average. I'm in the honors program and I still do not feel challenged. I usually have to put up with stupid classes that I don't learn anything in. This university feels more like a summer camp than a school, except it is even less fun.

Question
Mason provided for me the worst and mostQuite Bright
Mason provided for me the worst and most stressful year of my life. Anyone who says they like this school is in a frat or sorority (and is probably a giant tool). I was screwed over by admissions, housing, professors and every other administrative aspect possible. The students here are only nice on the surface. The academics are overrated. There is nothing to do on campus. Please, please pick elsewhere.

Question
Ugh! I know I shouldn't reply to otherQuite Bright
Ugh! I know I shouldn't reply to other reviews, but there are a few negative reviews on this site that are obviously posted by JMU students. One reviewer wrote that "there is absolutely nothing to do on campus. That was a blessing for me though, because I spent virtually all my time studying and therefore got a 4.0... which made it easier to transfer out of that hellhole." This is the same review that was posted on JMU's site! This comment is meant for JMU and not Mason! So please take my advice, GMU is a terrific school. I have two degrees in English (BA and MA). Professors are respected throughout the academic community--outside of Mason--and are leading minds in their disciplines. I am posting this reply to warn students that some negative comments are coming from students who DON'T attend Mason.
