While I appreciate PCC's effort, I can't sayEducation
While I appreciate PCC's effort, I can't say that my education was nearly as well-roiunded as it could have been. After getting my Bachelor's and Master's from PCC, I went elsewhere for my doctorate. What a shock to realize that my education at PCC was deficient in Psychology and Sociology. I knew all sorts of things about church history, but hardly anything about the innovators of modern education. I can't recommend this school. sorry.

Question
Despite claims to the contrary, the administration atReligion/Religious
Despite claims to the contrary, the administration at PCC is not at all interested in educational excellence. They are simply interested in faculty and students who are willing to toe the ideological party line and who are willing to sacrifice personal freedoms and vocational and economic aspirations to do so. The administration insists on narrow-minded perspectives in the classroom and in all other aspects of a student's life. When I was there, two friends of mine and I wrote a benign but non-approved student newspaper (there never has been nor will be a student newspaper there - God forbid the students should have a chance to express their opinions). The administration almost expelled us. The administration's reaction was symptomatic of a desperate and ruthless control they seek to impose on all of the school's operations. They are not interested in cultivating an intellectual life, in doing honest research, nor in truly exploring the wonders of this world. And, to top it all off, they bring God in on their side. If you disagree with them, you are disagreeing with God. Arrogance and despotism combined with fanatical religion - not a pretty sight. The school's lack of accreditation is further evidence of this. All of my initial attempts after college to gain admission into a secular university or to land a secular job failed, specifically (I was informed in every case) because of PCC's non-accredited status. I am now three months away from receiving my Ph.D. from one of the nation's top ten universities. It's been a long road here and my time at PCC was of no help. If it weren't for the few close friends I've retained from there (all of whom have rejected the school's perspective and approach), my regrets about going there would be even more intense.

Question
I graduated 16 years ago and the memoriesEducation
I graduated 16 years ago and the memories continue to haunt me. Do NOT attend this college under any circumstances. If you are a true believer it will screw you up with its emphasis on man obeying the law instead of God's grace. If you are not a believer you will never want to become one!

Like many others, I went because this school was on the short list of ones I was "allowed" to attend without being excommunicated from my family -- another was in South Carolina, if you get my drift. So I thought, "Well at least this one is close to the beach." Ha, ha. If you love to go to the beach, this will be a new experience for you. No music, nowhere near the guys, oh, and please wear pantyhose between the school and the beach in case someone sees you!

But I digress. We were required to attend chapel everyday, church three times per week (plus S.S.), prayer group each night and hall meeting (it's another devotional) once a week. This would be fine if these were quality services with real substantive messages and/or real discussions about Christianity. They were not. They were often guilt trips about having a good attitude about all the rules, or the same message over and over again about knowing God's will for your life. My personal favorite was "Incest is Wrong!!!" -- so is that a big problem at PCC?

I came out of that place so screwed up. If it hadn't been for my husband, another PCC grad (God bless him), I would have dropped out of the whole Christian life. Please, please, do not attend this school. If your parents won't pay for anywhere else, you can get loans on your own! They will get over it sooner than you will get over the painful experience of attending PCC.
