All the students at PCC are like robots,since they are not allowed to express themselves.All the demerits and unneccesary rules make you forget you are an adult.The faculty ARE condescending.Last summer I left because I could'nt take it anymore.The staff basically told me that I was going to live a short life because I was disobeying GOD and my parents by leaving PCC.But I'm SO glad I left after a year of it.I will never return to that hypocritical place.

1st Year Female -- Class 2009

Campus Aesthetics: A+, Education Quality: F

I was a boarding student for the high school living on campus. I knew going in it was going to be "punishment" but I had no idea to what extreme. I had numerous cds taken away. I know, you're thinking I was listening to "the devils music". I suppose if the Disney collection was orchestrated by Satan then I yes...I was partaking in the evils of society. I had a very stong love-hate relationship with Dean Bear. She hated me and I loved it. I recall finding ways to follow the rules but keep my own identity (combat boots with long skirts to dinner but with pantyhose). She watched me like a hawk and I smiled the whole time. For what it is worth, I was a poor student going in to the school. I could do the work but chose not to do it. When I got to the school I had to go from Earth Science to Chemistry and was forced into a Spanish class. The teacher I had for science at PCHS was very good. I jumped in and ended up with a high b. My spanish teacher (Ms. Mclamb) was AWESOME! If it were just the high school experience I would have been fine. Teachers for the most part were not ones that I will remember as role models or thought provokers. More than once I had one keep after class to tell me I was worring about boys too much.(and yes,,,I was lol but it was not his business) The required activities at the college were ridiculous. The rules they had for keeping students segregated was appaling (you couldn't even hold a hymnal with someone of the opposite sex). It encouraged experimentation. They preached how the world was going to Hell but yet when you left campus you could not talk to anyone who was not a student or faculty member. Hmmm...poor world will just keep going to hell. I can't help or I will get the dreaded demerits. Each floor of the dorm has, or had, two floorleaders (read snitch) who had full reign over your items. I ended up being "asked to leave" because a friend went home with me over a weekend and got drunk and had..um relations.. with a guy I knew. I took a sip (no really that is all I have had too many friends die from driving drunk. even to this day at 30 I don't like to drive if I have had as little as a beer) When we got back she ended up telling others about it. We were both named Amanda and not only did I get kicked out, it got around it was me who did this. While waiting for my final appearence I had to "shadow" one of the floorleaders. I could speak to no one..not even my mother. My roommate could not speak to my mother(who drove up to get me) or risk getting kicked out. At the final talks I was asked if i would tell them I would never drink alcohol again. Maybe it was because I was idealistic back then or maybe it's because I have always been a very literal, truthful person but I refused to tell them that. I could have and probably stayed on for the last two months of my senior year. Here is what it boils down to...I was a student with a 4.0. I had become active in many activities on campus,e ven holding officer positions in a couple of clubs. I was a GOOD KID! I was just a free thinker and wanted to learn things on my own. It was not allowed. It was down right stifled.

2nd Year Female -- Class 1994

Education Quality: A+, Innovation: F

Know what you are getting in to. If you are a free thinker or a person that questions things in life--DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. I have repeated dreams about being stuck there and I graduated 11 years ago. I am doing well career-wise now, but I have done it all on my own. I am an entertainer and have learned everything since leaving PCC. The only amazingly wonderful thing music-wise at PCC was my piano teacher Mrs Daisy DeLuca Jaffe--she was my god send. To give an example of the stupidity--one week before my senior recital, which I had been preparing for for a whole year, the administration cut a whole set of my music because it was written by George Gershwin and "too Jazzy". When the dean told me I would have to find a new set of selections one week before my recital she said, "Don't worry, you're Jason Weber, you can do that." Not to mention the next semester the faculty put on a fine arts show and there were 2 or 3 selections from George Gershwin in that show--double standards are a rule! Not worth it unless you are a supreme holy roller--let me warn you if you doubt anything--don't go, don't go, don't go!!
