Your asking for that in EVERY city… most people who go to SCAD especially in Atlanta know that Atlanta is a high crime area … its not that the school is hiding stuff… they are expecting you to have common sense… |
Major: Architecture (This Major's Salary over time)
Everyone gets into SCAD that applies. However, once class starts and the school work is applied, most of the people that shouldn't be in college get weeded out. By your junior year you start to realize that you ARE paying for something worthwhile. Would I tell you to come here? No. I believe that there are better art schools out there, that are cheaper, that can do the same thing for you, and that are in a safer environment. The crime here is outrageous. Expect to have your things stolen out of you car, or worse, out of your house, no matter where you live. Speaking from experience, every single person I know that has been here for the four years has experienced some sort of crime, or felt unsafe at several points of their SCAD career. What does SCAD do about it? Nothing. I was robbed at gunpoint at 7pm on a Sunday by four men in front of my own home in midtown, a safe area of town. They took my car and the rest of the belongings I had on me. What did SCAD do. Nothing. I reported the crime to SCAD after contacting the police, and they have done nothing for me, not even have the counseling department contact me. The school hides things, and for a good reason… to keep kids coming and paying. This place might look beautiful when you're here, but walk one block in any direction and you are suddenly in a place where you are not wanted. My advice to you is to be very careful, especially girls. Worse things can happen, and believe me, they have.
