When I came here in 2006, I had served seven years in the Army, and I chose MTSU over the U of ND and Howard University because I thought it was close to Nashville. When I got here, I quickly realized the mistake I made in coming here.

1) The people. They are polite, and seem nice at first, but one quickly learns that polite is not friendly. I have lived in nine states and fourty towns. Here people are very two faced, clannish, and unwilling to deal with outsiders. If you did not go to their high school, they want nothing to do with you. I was expecting college to be a place where I would meet many different kinds of people. Here there are three types: snotty white kids who despite their parents money are unable to get into Vandy bc. they are stupid, so they come here; ghetto trash from Memphis; and older students who are treated like outsiders.

2) The faculty dont care anything about the students, and the administration is the worst. I have been here three years, and have nevr been able to speak to my advisor.

3) The town sucks. This town is a collection of churches and bars. The only thing to do here is get drunk on Saturday and then repent on Sunday. The police department is out of control. I have been arrested four times, all the charges dismissed every single time, since I have been here. I am from Texas and used to a police state, but for a decorated veteran to be treated like a piece of garbage is reprehensible.

4) This school is not run to educate, it is run as a cash cow for the state of TN. That's why they let anyone in, and don't care if people fail out, as long as they got some money from them.
