UW Madison really is a good school, that can work well for some people, but definitely wasn't the ideal school for me. Especially being in a large program, it was really easy for me to be able to get lost in the crowd, and I had a difficult time asking for and finding help when I needed it. UW is a great school, academics wise, but I was definitely a mediocre student while I was there, and I wish I had gone to a more mediocre school where I would have been able to do better at. Professors are usually helpful, but sometimes hard to reach, depending on the program/subject - TA's are definitely more available to help, but sometimes don't know, are scary or don't speak English (especially in the Math department, I never had a single professor or TA in any math class that spoke English as a first language, or that was, at the very least, easy to understand).
