Woah, the 19th ward a "black ghetto?" You poor, sweet, innocent thing. Real life is going to hit you, and hit you so, so hard |
Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The place just feels so dead to me. The campus is hemmed in by an ugly river which has the 19th ward (a black ghetto, practically) on the other side, a graveyard, and the massive parking lots of the medical campus. So, it is really isolating and difficult to travel anywhere… once I got a car and could get around more easily I quickly learned that there isn't much I wanted to visit or realistically could on a regular basis. I ended up feeling constantly stuck, developmentally, geographically, and socially. Plus, it is fucking expensive and the administration doesn't give a shit about an individual's undergrad experience, but only about upholding their reputation. I saw more money and effort go into what can only be described public relations stunts over impacting the experiences of the average student.
