Date: Apr 25 2025 Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time) Terrible alumni network. CS department does not offer interesting research during my time. They did expanded the faculty a few years after I graduated but tech field became oversaturated. Prof Pawlicki is unprofessional, mixed up my name with someone else's. Grace Hopper is overrated. Most of the tech companies have bad reviews such as lack of growth opportunities, frequent reorgs. eg Someone I knew went to FactSet but left after around six years to do a masters degree in AI. Alumni plays a bigger role in whether you get the job. Unless it's Amazon which has a low hiring bar. White and black women have an easier time getting hired by Google even though they may not be super bright nor do they have a PhD. Standard CS courses with no electives that differentiate it from other universities back in my time. No exciting and modern classes like cloud computing, software engineering and graph machine learning. Lame tech recruiters from companies like 1010data which has bad reviews on lack of growth opportunities. Those who went to highly rated coding bootcamps went to decent tech companies . San jose state university and university of Washington are much better for CS students.
