This
once good school has grown too fast. Compared to when
I attended, there is way too much emphasis on trying
to be an upper level football program which it will
never be.Most of the kids walking around campus day and
night look more like welfare recipients. I sat in on
what used to be college freshman classes and it reminded
me more of fifth grade but without any respect for
the instuctor. I am told that after the financial freebees
run out that the third and fourth year classes are
better. The perceived level of crimes at old MTSU is harming
its goal of attracting top students. Unless these top students
are from tough inner city environments this place is very
intimidating. on the plus side the physical plants itself is
impressive. As usual we still get high marks for flight, teacher
education, and now recording engineering. The music, math, English, and
language departments badly need some of that money going to
athletics. This is a national shame, and I was there on
a football scholarship the first two years.
