UofI is a great school to go to.History/Histories (art history/etc.)
UofI is a great school to go to. You have to deal with the rich suburban kids and the frats and sororities. The social life is great with around 13 bars on campus. Use the frats for beer and dancing, but stay away from their group mentality. Illini Tower is full of the Glenbrook North HS hazing spoiled hazing students who join greek life. Meet people through your smaller discussion sections head by TAs who can be easier than a real professor. The campus is beautiful with always things going on outside of the bars.

Question
Good school in the middle of nowhere; IfBrightComputer Science
Good school in the middle of nowhere; If you get in outta state, expect a ton of work getting there. Bar life and Fart life dominates, but its hard to not have a good time. People make the best outta living in nowhere, surprisingly enough.

Work is hard. No big surpirse there. If you stay with it, you'll do fine. There's no forgiveness here, you fall behind, flunk, whatever, there's no one here to catch you. Your on your own more or less, though the school will offer a little help, and there's is help if you seek it. But you got to seek it, because nobody here is gonna come out of the word work and save you. So if you need somebody to carry you through life, this isn't the place for you. Well, maybe it is. It'll remove that quick. Sure did for me.

Dorms are ok. There's plenty of apartments right on campus too. Find people with cars (you'll need 'm). Place is huge so you'll spend lots of time on bus or bike. Really cold in the winter, really hot in the summer. Its a good time.
