I believe that the University of Illinois atSociology
I believe that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign truly helped me to figure out who I really am. There are so many ways to get involved and opportunities for research with faculty that everyone can find their passion.

What I wish I knew then: Never hesitate to ask an administrator a question. Unless you memorize the whole catalog, you will miss a rule or policy that could help you.My recommendation for HS students: Compare your schools, look at curriculum, deal with finances second. You need to pick a school that is right for you, not be guided by price tags and scholarships. It will make all the difference. It did for me.

U of I has an excellent and engaging academic program. Unfortunately, the campus and surrounding towns are dull unless you like to hit the booze alot, and people tend to be closed-minded conformists.

Question
This school's mentality is work work work duringQuite BrightPolitical Science
This school's mentality is work work work during the week and then get really messed up on weekends, via alcohol and drugs. Don't go too crazy on the new sense of liberty; once you get past the initial frenzy of partying, etc. etc. (that some people never get over), get serious because it's really easy to fall through the cracks in such a huge university. A college like this requires a lot of initiative, and apathy is definately a struggle to steer away from. Broken spirit also definately describes the majority of people that go here (regardless of whether or not they're gung ho for a time) because of the intense school atmosphere and the very active party scene here- not that the party scene here is great, either. For the most part, it's people getting messed up because there's not much else to do and it sure beats any other option.
