Understand that when you go to elon, youQuite BrightEconomics
Understand that when you go to elon, you should know what to expect. Yeah..there are the snotty, rich kids -- but this stereotype shouldn't be put on everyone. Past reviewers stated that there aren't many individualists. However, I always walk around with my good friend with his hair down to his shoulders while wearing a Tool shirt. I have friends that would rather burn alive then wear a polo shirt. I walk around with my earing in all the time. I also drive a mid 90s domestic sedan -- obviously i'm not rich or appearing rich. Myself and many of my friends rely heavily on financial aid. Also, most of my close friends aren't greek -- because of lack of funds and enthusiasm. It's always hard in life to find those that really care about you, and Elon is the same. The academics are becoming excellent, with the University becoming more reknowned and competitive. I am an honors student, but had I applied this year it would have been impossible to be in the program.

Question
Elon is a small school, but allows forBrightJournalism
Elon is a small school, but allows for many opportunities. I play varsity soccer, work on the school newspaper, and I am a member of a sorority. While the combination of all three is uncommon, it is possible. While some people think big greek life is negative, it has really made my experience at Elon better. I met great girls with the same interest in life as me. The teachers at Elon range from impossibly difficult to very easy. I like to balance my classes out. I am a major in journalism and a minor in exercise science, so I find my exercise sciences classes very difficult. My journalism courses come more naturally to me, but I am also only a freshman, so I have heard they get harder. Winter term is a great idea. Real friendships are made during this time and you can get involved in clubs that you may not have gotten a chance to see fall semester. During winter term, you have the same class three hours a day, Mon-Fri, for three weeks. Most people pick fun courses that aren't offered during the fall or spring semesters. Many people also go abroad for three weeks during this time. I hear its a a great experience for people that don't want to dedicate an entire semester. Social life is good enough for me, but I am easily entertained. I like to know a few people at all the parties I go to. The only drawback to the small school setting and the large greek life is the athletic support. Our men's basketball and baseball gets decent support, but that's about it. Everyone either gets to or leaves football games by the second half. But they also only won a couple games last season. Basketball and baseball are also our most successful programs. Women's soccer is on it's way though!

Question
I think Elon is an excellent school.Quite BrightPsychology
I think Elon is an excellent school. Alot of people who are dissatisfied with Elon feel that way because they didn't make the most out of their experience. Academically the school is outstanding and the professors really want to help the students. Socially its not that great but if you have alot of friends and/or associates then its not so bad. You make the best out of a bad situation. As far as location there are so many schools close by that its ok that we're isolated because it leaves room for less distractions. As far as diversity is concerned I am an African-American woman and I feel like the amount of minority students attending is increasing every year. I don't feel out of place because I was able to adjust to my surroundings and I would send my children to Elon.
