Fordham University is by far the most interestingQuite BrightBiology
Fordham University is by far the most interesting place I have ever been in my whole life. I say that in an attempt to reveal two completely different aspects of the school. While the school is extremely competent at getting the individual to grow and prosper in their own way, the institutions at the school are designed more to get under your skin, provide restrictions and uppity administrators, do-nothing deans, and most of all, corrupt, but extremely intelligent Jesuits. If you can get past all the monotonous, archaic crap that pervades this school in terms of the superficial nature of the rich jackassess that flood it from the bowels of garbage-ridden new jersey or faux new york city citizens in the form of long islanders, you will actually find a telling and truthful message that pervades through the core curriculum. The professors at this school deliver to the students a well designed and efficient education that has been perfected over the years to get young minds to open and flourish in a non-competitive and accepting ACADEMIC atmosphere. I can honestly say that the rigors of the core curriculum, though thoroughly bashed by most students as 'mundane and restrictive' is actually the solid base of Fordham's intimate message about the reconstruction of the human being into a man and woman for others.

The Problem?
No one really seems to get the message. The so called well educated professors and deans, all of which are thorougly trained in the jesuit arts of philosophy, english, theology, etc, and which are clearly intellectually able, fail to demonstrate the message that the university is built on. Instead, they act as most rich upperclass jackasses act - removed, cold, pompous, and most of all uncaring - the very thing that the university preaches. Even more sad is the students attitude towards it. Students, most of which are going to the school on the saved thousands of daddy who probably is some dumbfuck political tool vice president of the failing economic companies nowadays, are extremely static and boring. Most of the girls look like they have been made in the basement with cheap plastic parts and personalities to boot and boys who are for the most part their sad, boring counterparts. They all seem to hear and understand the university's noble message, but then go off to the tribar area on the weekend to booze their lives away thinking about the next cute guy or girl to come by, who for the most part, usually doesnt give two shits about them because they are as boring and probably as complicated as a teaspoon. But I digress...

As a result, the social scene at fordham proves to be an ILLUSION. An illusion of lots of makeup, short skirts, skeezy bar owners who piss their money away on meaningless chimiercal crap to bring crowds, and most of all, robotic, bland boys who are sad excuses for the next round of executives that we hope will bail this country out of its troubles.

My advice is this: If you are a strong person, with strong values and you can hear the message of the university beyond the hypocritical voices that scream things against it, then fordham may provide for you both an unique place to study, and an eye opening experience into one of the best cities in the world. The university is what you make it - if you are positive and forgiving along with accepting of interesting people to be your friends, then you will find a unique minority that thinks and acts like you and that you will truly enjoy your time with. Good luck :)

Scary campus.BrightBiology
Scary campus. Beggars everywhere. Food is so expensive and the neighborhoods all around the campus are dangerous. Two blocks in each direction is a dump and violent. My friend was mugged twice in the past year. Cars get broken into every hour. Apartments are gross and expensive. I see more campus police than I see my friends. Six of my clsest friends are trasnferring out of here and call it Hellham and Boredham. Can't stand the administration here either. Trying to transfer is like trying to break out of prison.
