"This brings me to another issue, the GeorgeNot so bright
"This brings me to another issue, the George Mason campus police. I have never been in trouble with the police on this campus, so please keep that in mind while reading this and know that it is not out of personal spite. Well, maybe a little spite, only because they are ruthless. If you are intoxicated on Mason's campus, chances are you will be arrested and taken to the Fairfax county jail. It is completely ridiculous, but the police are not there to protect students, like most campuses' police are supposed to do, they are there to issue fines, arrest, and generally make the student population that wants a social life miserable"

I could not agree more with this statement. The campus police are outrageous. Do not apply to George Mason, if you plan to have even a sip of alcohol and go out in public. Mason police sit and wait for a person to look at them the wrong way then arrest them in a heartbeat. Fairfax county cops think they are a joke.

Also, you really won't find it easy to make friends unless you join greek life or are on a sports team.(and by sports team I DON'T mean recreational or intramural sports) The university clears out on the weekends because it is a commuter school and probably always will be because of how rediculously hard it is to get on-campus housing.

Question
Ugh! I know I shouldn't reply to otherQuite Bright
Ugh! I know I shouldn't reply to other reviews, but there are a few negative reviews on this site that are obviously posted by JMU students. One reviewer wrote that "there is absolutely nothing to do on campus. That was a blessing for me though, because I spent virtually all my time studying and therefore got a 4.0... which made it easier to transfer out of that hellhole." This is the same review that was posted on JMU's site! This comment is meant for JMU and not Mason! So please take my advice, GMU is a terrific school. I have two degrees in English (BA and MA). Professors are respected throughout the academic community--outside of Mason--and are leading minds in their disciplines. I am posting this reply to warn students that some negative comments are coming from students who DON'T attend Mason.
