Since I have been here, GMU has expanded so much that it'sNot so brightPolitical Science
Since I have been here, GMU has expanded so much that it's quite remarkable. Thanks partly to the historic NCAA basketball run, and also in part to the school's innovative methods of attracting better professor's and fostering improved facilities. Academically, the school is pretty sound, and I can't imagine a profoundly superior education for the price as I am receiving now. Many of my array of teachers have first-hand experiences from working in numerous departments in DC, abroad, and locally, that it definitely overwhelms and immerses you with alot of knowledge that I couldn't possibly achieve at a more remote college setting.

GMU has expanded greatly with the construction of numerous, brand new academic buildings, and dining facilities, as well as brand new dorms, for the growing demand for them. They have also brought in state of the art engineering equipment, and are planning to build a conference center and hotel on campus. And there's plenty more to come.

Socially, this is where GMU's only fault lies at in my opinion. They've definitely tried to improve in this regard with the student friendly activities around campus, and more dorm and apartment rooms, but its still a far cry from being up to par with most institutions around VA. It is infact, still a commuter school for nearby residents, and a couple of back to school older adults. I definitely see more cohesion right now, then I did my freshman year with students, and the overall community surrounding it.

Overall, I think GMU provides a solid academic foundation, with alot more to come in the future along with your degree from this institution. It was recently ranked US NEWS #1 School to Watch 2009, for all of their efforts in improving the university, and it definitely shows. That plus, the fact that it's located near the nation's capital, and in one of the richest surrounding area's in America allows you to have insight on the different facets of government departments, Lockheed Martin, World Bank, Embassies, and alot of other abundant opportunities you can't find anywhere else. Definitely a school to attend, and also a school that will be Top 50 in America in the near future.

I took a summer class and it was a joke.Quite BrightComputer Science
I took a summer class and it was a joke. I was a junior when I took a summer class and I felt intellectually superior among a bunch of college freshmen. Classroom discussions were a huge part of the educational technique, and frankly, paying any money for discussing some literary topics with a bunch of retards is a waste. Lots of the chicks are ugly, campus isn't particularly aesthetically pleasing as colleges should be, professors are also retarded (probably from teaching retarded students for x amount of years), and in general, the school is for retards. For anyone attending out of state, I just have to say, you are below retarded. Only attend if you are in-state, and for those seeking a true college education and college experience, come only if you intend on transferring.

Seriously, DO NOT GO HERE.BrightCriminal
Seriously, DO NOT GO HERE.
Looking for school spirit? We don't have it.
A tight-knit student body? Depends how many commuter students felt like coming to campus that day.
Want to get involved outside of going to classes? Nobody cares.
Trying to find a campus that's pretty and easy to navigate? Good luck, because literally everything is fenced off and under construction for the next 3 years.

And to top if off, this school could not care less about sexual violence on campus and the safety of its students. I was sexually assaulted on campus last semester and Mason police gave me a pizza coupon to make me feel better. Haven't heard from them since. Want more info on their total lack of empathy? Read this Huffington Post story: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/george-mason-university-students-brett-kavanaugh_n_5cb75ca6e4b081fd16924ff3?Mason is the fourth college I've attended (long story) and I'm graduating in a month and I'm honestly kind of depressed that George Mason University is the school that I'll be stuck with on my diploma for the rest of my life.
