Medical Office Manager

Being the manager of a medical office brings a lot of responsibilities. You should have really great interpersonal skills and work well with others. You will need to be a great multi-tasker as you will be responsible for both the front and back offices.

Medical officer managers will at a minimum hold a bachelors degree, a lot of office managers hold bachelors degrees in nursing while others may hold degrees with an emphasis on business administration / management or both. If you have a degree in business you could receive your bachelors or masters of science in nursing in as little as 2 years

You duties will require you to interview and hire for almost all positions with the medical office. You will be responsible for making sure the office is running at a profit. You will be required to schedule the front and back office personal for work. It will be your job to make sure that all the essential supplies are always in stock for the medical office to run smoothly.

As a medical office manager you will also be responsible for making sure all the current policies and procedures are being followed by staff. You will also be required to implement new and adjust existing policies and procedures when fit.

According to the bureau of labor statistics the 2012 median pay for an individual working as a medical office manager is $88k/year. The pace of job growth expected over the next 10 years is expected to grow at a faster rate than average. Over the next 10 years there will be an additional 73k medical officer manager positions added to the US economy.
