Nursing Informatics

Health informatics (also called health information systems, health care informatics, healthcare informatics, medical informatics, nursing informatics, clinical informatics, or biomedical informatics) is a discipline at the intersection of information science, computer science, social science, behavioral science and health care. It deals with the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in health and biomedicine. Health informatics tools include computers, clinical guidelines, formal medical terminologies, and information and communication systems. It is applied to the areas of nursing, clinical care, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, occupational therapy, physical therapy and (bio)medical research, and alternative medicine too.[1]

With the information age has come the sharing of critical health information in real time. Hospitals and the staff in them use real time video and voice to share operating room procedures in real time, information on critical outbreaks, life time patient records, cutting edge research and daily breakthroughs in health science.

Robotics

With the future of medicine moving towards robotics a growing field within the health care field is surrounded by robotics. From operating rooms with robotic arms making precision incisions to robots performing checkups on patients feeding live video to a doctor in the same hospital or at a remote location, robotics within the health care industry is growing.

It could be interpreted in terms of stress, salary, long hours, future prospects, etc. *** not counting those currently in grad school

Graduates who stayed in Nursing

Still in Field%81
Got out%19
More: All Majors Still in field ??? A high "got out" percentage can be interpreted a couple of ways -- for instance, perhaps the major is a great stepping stone to becoming a totally different career -- like a doctor. Or perhaps the jobs one gets with the major just aren't that great. *** not counting those currently in grad school
