Major: Accounting (This Major's Salary over time)
Lehigh is not for everyone. It is essential that you are interested in drinking lots of alcohol and meeting people that like to drink lots of alcohol. Fraternities do dominate, but there are so many of them (23) for such a small school there are groups for almost everyone…who likes to drink. I knew tons of kids who didn't go greek and still had an unbelievable experience, so it is not a requirement. However, if you aren't going to join a house, you must be willing to be extroverted and assertive in finding your scene. The accounting program is first rate. They regularly place 100% of graduates in mid-level to major-level firms, including about 75% going to big-4 CPA firms starting at about $50K. The accounting chairman has built a well oiled machine. The administration is out of touch with the strengths of the school, and has been trying to change the social scene for about 7 years now. It won't work, Lehigh is a social culture that is too set in its ways to be anything else. The average student is white from the NY/NJ/CT area and from a very wealthy background. Basically, relatively smart kids who didn't put forth the effort necessary to make the ivy league go here and meet other white kids from the NY/NJ/CT area to marry. I did not find any/much racial descrimination, however. You will be able to have close relationships with the senior administrators. My advice to HS students is to go visit the school and go out to a bunch of fraternities, if you like it that night you will love it at Lehigh.
