I was trained as a teacher and went directly to grad school after my BA. I thought I was doing something positive but that turned out to be completely wrong. After I received my Masters I spent 7 years and between 900 and 1000 resumes, letters of inquiry, and applications were sent out (remember these were the pre-computer years) and all that brought me exactlyone interview. I am not exaggerating.I didn't know until years later why all these employers/schools treated me like a leper. It was because I was TOO educated for their liking. They didn't want to pay me more when they could hire a BA/BS for less money. I was finally educated on this subject by some teachers whom I had become friends with. So I ask anyone reading this, "How long would it have taken one of the so called experts at Muskingum College to take me aside and tell me NOT to get a Masters until after I was hired?". I don't think it would have taken them long and I also don't believe they didn't know the consequences of what I was going to do. So my advice is simple. DO NOT go to Muskingum College. They do not pay attention to details and they do not care about the students. They just want your money and then you are on your own.
