Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
I graduated in 1973. My degree was in Psychology. I have two children who have graduated from colleges. I feel that I have a good perspective on the undergraduate landscape.

Ohio University has morphed over the years. The school used to be a National University. Now it appears to be primarily a nursing/health care school. I say that because out of the roughly 4,000 graduates last year 2,400 were nursing students.

The school used to pull in students from a broader geographical area. About 1/3 of the students were from the Cleveland area, 1/3 form other towns in Ohio and 1/3 from out of state.

And, the DO school has been added since I graduated.

As most posters have said, the campus is beautiful. And that counts for a lot! I wouldn?t want to have spent 4 years at the University of Akron, for instance.

Posters have also been critical of the quality of the education. While it is true that a person can slide by taking easy courses and professors, a person can also challenge themselves.

One aspect that the posters haven?t mentioned are your fellow students. If you are surrounded by bright, high achieving people, you are more likely to become one yourself.

Unfortunately, OU is not very selective. Therefore, your peers will not be the best and brightest.

That being said, the town is full of a type of excitement that is almost palpable. After 4 years you will leave with a feeling of excitement and confidence that will serve you well if you can fall into a career path that will pay the bills.

The State?s economic condition over the last decade has negatively affected the University. As did the tenure of former University President Roderick Davis.
