First of all, many people who do not comment are the ones who really enjoy the univeristy and do not have any problems going here. I find that this school not only challenges me in class, it challenges me outside of class as well. I am involved in many activities and I find that you can't be just any person to be the top leader of organizations, like you were in high school. You really have to work hard to distinguish yourself.About the people…sure there are those girls and guys who just care about themselves and their Louis Vuitton. But there is so much more diversity than you really can get a grip of. I have met people from all walks of life. I have met people who live in hotels, who live in Mexico, who live on a farm, who come from Korea, everywhere…rich and poor. It's amazing the experience you'll have here.Social life here is just the same at any other university. You do have the frat parties and all the drinking, but if you don't drink it's not a HUGE deal. Some people say that you will be ridiculed, but that's ridiculous. If you have friends that are not judgemental idiots you will be able to have fun with them on weekends, or go to parties and not drink. That's OKAY. You also have a lot of options like ice skating, movies, a huge mall, an amazing symphonic orchestra…etc. There are so many options. My view of Syracuse University is that it's an amazing campus, as well as an amazing higher learning institution. Because it's not a huge university you have a lot of opportunity to talk to professors more intimately and you get a lot of leniency regarding classes and majors. For example, if the class you want is full it's easy to get into it just by speaking to the professor. Also if you want to double major in geography and music, although it's not normally practiced, working with your advisor it's very possible. Their study abroad program is also amazing. The weather, not so great, but you get used to it! They are very efficient about cleaning snow here, you usually don't even need to wear boots. I really hope I've dissuaded some people about the negative aspects of Syracuse University. It's a great place, a wonderful place to live, and a tremendous educational experience, if that's what you're looking for. It really is what you make of it!
