I really disliked SC because the students whomFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
I really disliked SC because the students whom I worked with were cut-throat and very competitive. I've noticed that the locals here in LA are very greedy, and in turn, this style is reflected upon the majority of students at USC. I also find a lot of the parents of the USC students from where I'm from, to be very snotty and arrogant. I was not a richboy student like the rest of the student body. My parents worked in average jobs, and weren't snotty. I also wonder why the school's president promotes frat parties and drinking. Hazing and drinking is a BIG problem on campus. During my sophomore year, a student fell out of a dorm window and seriously injured himself. And recently, I've heard from a friend currently attending USC that a student fell out from a high-rise dorm window and died. Life in LA is very stressful, and if your parents don't live there or if you're not a local, then life will be tough. The dorms are noisy, and the RA's don't care about listening to students' concern. They play favoritism and are very biased. For example, I had this jerk roommate during my freshmen year who didn't want my drawer in the middle of the room. The reason I did that was I sprained my ankle. Then he whines to the RA, and the RA listened to him and told me to place my drawer back near my bed. USC was also a racist college and still is a racist school today. I am a minority, but the majority of the students at SC are rich white kids. You can sense it in the fraternity....mostly white rich students. There are also frats for minorities...but I didn't care much about them. Frankly, if you're not rich and white, be prepared to be left out of the social circle. If I were to go back in time I would have attended another better college. And frankly, I will not send my kids to SC.

Plain and simple people: You're in the middle of South Central LA! Walk one street away from this place and there's a good chance a homey will blow your head off.

Academically....on par with any community college. A big positive was the football program...but even that proved to be corrupt.

The US News ranking for this place (#23 nationally) seems impressive, however, further research into the reason USC was ranked so high is because the con their alumni into senselessly throwing money into the university fund. (By the way, according to the US News ranking methodology, they score 35% of the total tally off of alumni contributions and only 10% on academic quality).

Save you dough and pass on this over-priced, ivy league wanna-be school and go to an establishment where you WILL get a better education (California has much better places like UC Berkley, Stanford and UCLA)

On the very minor plus side...since you are in "the hood"...there's a very good chance you could get yourself on COPS or some other reality police show due to the ever present violence and car chases.....FUN!
