USC may look like a good school onQuite BrightArchitecture
USC may look like a good school on the outside. But once you settle in, you realize that USC is just an over-rated college. It's a "good" school, but not good enough to be a Stanford, UCLA, Harvard, Yale or Northwestern. It never will be as long as the school favors athletics and party animals over serious academics. I also hated my life at USC because the students in the dorms are real jerks. Blast their music loud just to irritate you. I had many horrible incidents with neighbors while living in Birnkrant hall years ago. The R.A's did nothing to intervene, and rather, told me to move to another dorm, or simply move off campus. Then another year, I lived in a single room, and a jerk across me would scribble racist remarks on my white board, place condoms on my door knob, throw trash in front of my door, and throw my bicycle on the sidewalk. I will never forget the hateful people of USC. I also couldn't stand the snobby materialistic, superficial characteristics of a lot of the USC students. This is why I would not have gone there if I had a chance to go back in time.

Question
If your thinking about coming to this school,Quite BrightArchitecture
If your thinking about coming to this school, i highly advide that you come visit. The minute i visited and saw how welcoming and warm the campus felt, I knew i was in the right place. The social life is amazing. There are lots of parties to go to and if your not into that, its very easy to find people that aren't into the party scene either.

For those of you applying for architecture...
This program is very intense. If your not ure if you will like architecture, unfortunately, you probably won't. I haave seen a quarter of our class this year dop out of the program after the first semester precisely becasue of this. The work load is very heavy, but if you enjoy architecture, it can be very manageable. Alumni network here at USC is extremely important! professors are always looking for paid interns and 100% of those who graduate from USC Architecture get a job once they graduate.

For everyone else...
USC is constantly raising its standards with more and more smart students being admitted. You will quickly find that you need to put work ahead of play, or you will fall behind. Don't forget that USC has an amazing alumni network in every program, so if you strictly look at official college rankings, you may not see this HUGE benefit.

Question
I think that USC has a lot ofQuite BrightArchitecture
I think that USC has a lot of work to do to make itself the 'world-class' university it claims to be, and to make the high price of tuition worth it, but it also has a lot going for it too. While (being an architecture major) I absolutely hate the buildings on campus, those who are not architecture majors seem to like them a lot, so I may be being too picky. I did not have a good dorm experience, but know many people who did. The architecture program is extremely demanding, and they bring in some well known architects to teach studios, which helps out in one of USC's strongest points- connections! The school of architecture is very well known throughout the local architecture community, and for architecture right now, Los Angeles is the place to be. While everyone else reads articles and sees photos of all the great (and terrible) things that are getting built here and have their opinions corrupted by their professors' agendas, we get to see them in person and form our own opinions.
