I have to admit, I went to theQuite BrightJournalism
I have to admit, I went to the University of Florida because I believed it offers the best education in Florida. And it does, but Florida is really not the best place to come to school. I entered into the Advertising program, and it has been a total waste of my parents money. After graduation salaries that I were offered were really quite poor, and after more consideration I changed careers later down the line. Gainesville is quite a boring town. Unless you like to get drunk a lot then there's not that much to do. A lot of people tend to be in Frats/Sororities, and those people usually tend to be quite prickish. I did find it difficult to get to know people here, in-fact the only thing I did for fun at Gville was play soccer 5 times a week. Be prepared for absolutely massive classes for things like General Psych, Precalc/Trig. If you really have to go to school in Florida, then I guess go to UF, but if you can, go out of state.

Question
University of Florida is currently in a sadBright
University of Florida is currently in a sad state. The campus is dangerous and administration does not care. UF feels that they can break state and federal laws because they are their own quasi-governmental agency. I transfered from a community college and recieved a much better quality of education there. Lab classes at UF are a joke because they claim that they cannot afford enough lab equipment for all of the students and the equiptment that they do have is grossly antiquated. The surrounding city of Gainesville is a little slice of hell. They have no infrastructure; roads, courts, police and fire departments, and the locals prey upon students. Going here is the worst mistake that I have ever made. If I had one piece of advice it would be to go elsewhere and do not even consider UF. The only reason that this place is ranked highly is their legacy of being Floridas flagship university, but that will change.

Do welcome week stuff, rushing (even if you don't join you meet so many people!), and when they thrust fliers in your face, take 'em. Yea they may get thrown out but at least you'll maybe hear about a club or party to go to that night/weekend!
