I am a new freshman @ the HinesQuite BrightArchitecture
I am a new freshman @ the Hines College of Architecture and even though it's a great school I found the program not as challenging as I expected; they're very much into craftsmanship and seem to not reward creativity and abstract thinking. The fact that the University is ranked low nationally and the school's tendency to admit quite a high number of under-achievers, makes the college of Architecture fade in national rankings and is making me want to transfer somewhere else-maybe UT or Berkley. All I can say is that the University should be more selective and provide less expensive housing options because, even though the school offers a number of high quality programs such as Architecture, Business and Law; it has a low number of students living on campus, making it one of the worst environments for student networking and social growth.

Question
As a current student at UH, who justBrightArchitecture
As a current student at UH, who just finished applying for colleges last year, I would recommend UH. I am in the Honors program here,as well as the Architecture program and I can assure you that these are very stimulating programs. I enjoy the diversity that UH has to offer, I do not think I could have gotten this at any other school. You make trade-offs when you decide to come here, and I say that program based, I would not choose any other school. If you are looking for that traditional University experience, do not come back here, at least, not for a couple of years. This school is really starting to improve, and I think that within the next five years people will consider it as an option more frequently. I will tell you, I did not want to come here as my first choice, but I am sooooooooo glad that I did. I had options, I had scholarships, I chose this school for various reasons, but I really feel as if I am receiving a great education. DO NOT RULE THIS SCHOOL OUT WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT FIRST-HAND.

Question
UH School of Architecture has prepared me wellArchitecture
UH School of Architecture has prepared me well for entering the working field. I had a very intensive, but fun filled 5-year there. The tuition is affordable which allowed me to spend more on materials and study abroad program. It is a 5 year professional degree that will prepare you well for higher education or getting the license.
