If you're out-of-state like i am , be warned that EVERYONE leaves on weekends besides us. if your're not engineering or radio/tv, look elsewhere. also, i hope you're ot depending on fin. aid cuz your grants WILL mysteriously disappear at some point or you will have some other problem. if u dont believe me, just ask anyone in line at the fin. aid office.

Question
After three years at Drexel I'm getting reallyQuite BrightVideo/Media
After three years at Drexel I'm getting really tired of every other person I meet bitching and moaning about "The Drexel Shaft" and how shitty they think this university is. Honestly the main thing they complain about is administrative red tape, which will be found in any large organization, institution, or business. It's never going to be easy to get free money (financial aid) out of anyone. It is not my place to comment of the quality of education that some of these people have recieved from their respective programs, but I can confidently say that the Film and Video Production program at Drexel is extremely effective. It is a fairly new program, but with each passing year the quality imporves more and more. The faculty is knowledgeable and encouraging of student work. By the time film students are upperclassmen they develop great working relationships with eachother, thus contributing to creative, skilled final projects in film or video. The co-op program gives you a chance to intern before you graduate, and in this industry there are MANY college grads who work unpaid just to gain experience. The expereince for me in the school of design arts has been very positive, and the other negative aspects of Drexel have been secondary.

Question
Boy where to start.Quite BrightComputer Science
Boy where to start. Drexel has its pros and cons, many of both.
First I guess, the negatives. Financial aid here is horrendous. I believe the past 3 years at the Princeton reivew we've averaged 6th or 5th worst in the nation, and it scares me to think others have it worse. It's not so much the cost of tuition or the aid packages, but the department of financial aid itself is apathetic to the point they will lie straight to a student's face. The campus is non-existent. We're in the middle of Philadelphia, and there is no real distinguishing between Drexel own buildings and privately owned ones. Philly isn't the cleanest or nicest city, but if you're looking for one of this community-in-a-bubble kind of Universities this isn't the setting you want. Still worse for us men is the male/female ratio. Especially as a computer science major or engineer, you wouldn't believe girls even attended this university if not for the nice spring term weather when they all seem to come out from hiding. Don't expect to meet many women here, it's just that simple (conversely this bodes well for single girls as they essentially have their pick when it comes to finding a guy on campus).

Ok, now for some positives. First, the co-op. The only reason I went here is for the co-op and its been a great experience. 3 chances to prove to an employer what kind of work I can do, and 1.5 years experience in the field of my major before graduating is priceless. Also, tuition gets a lot cheaper when you move off campus to an apartment nearby (which nearly every upperclassmen does before 3rd year). Going to school for 5 years is as I see it a benefit. Some people may want to be done with school, but it means you have to join the workforce and grow up even more a year sooner. Going to school for 5 years gives you one more year to party and be a kid. Additionally, the teaching staff is diverse in their quality here. It depends what you choose to do. Their are a lot of teachers at the freshman level that weren't any better than my highschool teachers, however the upper level teachers will truly restore your faith and respect in the term professor. Unfortunately you have to wait about 2 years to take those kinds of classes, but it's a trade-off.
