The problem with UW is it's in WISCONSIN!!AverageSocial Work
The problem with UW is it's in WISCONSIN!! I had a roommate from Alaska who said he was moving back b/c the winters in Wisconsin were too cold. TOO COLD for a guy from ALASKA!! Yea, the 6 weeks of summer are decent but the rest of the year are horrible. Sell your car and by a team of sled dogs...you'll get around town a lot faster. Cold and overcast most of the year. Depressing to no end!!! But, the school itself, the students, and facilty are all nice. The only places worse are Michigan & MSU...just as cold as UW but the students and locals at UM & MSU are a**holes to boot.

Question
I would not recommend UW-Madison to anyone.AverageUndecided
I would not recommend UW-Madison to anyone. The campus is very large, and students are forced to pick classes by the buildings they are located in rather than the topic. The class sizes are also too large; it's very difficult to interact with other students and faculty members. The dorms are very dirty and unkept. The students are also very disrespectful and not willing to accept others. Many of them come from upper-class families and are extremely snobby. The campus is also unsafe; it seems like every day I pick up a student newspaper some football player or basketball player has assaulted someone. The streets are very loud and cluttered at night with house partiers and empty beer bottles. It is also very difficult to find an on-campus job because the large number of students creates incredible competition. The tuition is also much higher here than at other UW schools. Parking is also a huge problem, so don't plan on bringing your car if you want to go to school here. But more than that, at Madison you are a number, not a person.
